Bored in the house and you’re in the house bored? Same. Here’s some ideas to help you stay entertained during quarantine…hope you find something you like.
Mind-Numbing Pleasure
If you want a distraction to numb the brain I suggest trying out some Buzzfeed quizzes. They’re a great distraction from whatever you’re doing (it’s why I struggle to get any work done). From guessing your age based on your McDonald’s order to finding out if you’re over your ex; they have everything. They even have some that’ll test your knowledge…might be helpful for the GED test.
Now while it pains me to say this, I also suggest downloading TikTok if you can. With thousands of videos you can get distracted on this app for hours. From animal content to endless dance trends they really do have something for everyone. Even my 40 year-old manager is on the app…yikes.
Television
Let’s be honest TV is at a high point right now with endless shows to stream, binge or have on in the background while studying. My (virtual) office is constantly sharing their favorites from the best dramas like Game of Thrones to the cringiest reality TV like The Real Housewives of Wherever.
If you’re money conscious like me, most streaming services are offering free trials extending from a week to a month! I suggest signing up, watching as much TV as possible and then canceling before you have to pay. Also it’s easy to share accounts with family and friends. I won’t deny I used my ex’s Hulu account for about 6 months after we broke up .
Cooking/Baking
Cooking is a great activity that can take anywhere from 30 minutes to like 4 hours of your time. Before quarantine I was a person who cooked the same 3 things (stir fry, pasta, scrambled eggs) but now that I have more time to fill, this is a great outlet.
There’s endless recipes on the internet that can range from meals that require only what you have in the pantry to something a little more gourmet. If you’re looking for a little fun, tweet Gordon Ramsay your meal…he’ll probably respond with a hilarious comment.
Exercise
Lol I know I just mentioned eating but exercising is important too. I’m not a person who enjoys exercise no matter how much I try to convince myself I do. However, it is a great outlet to clear your head and release some endorphins.
I try to get out for a run most days (even if it’s only like 20 minutes long) and then do some ab exercises or cardio at home.
Yoga is also a good way to get your body moving. My roommates and I try to get a couple of lessons in a week while simultaneously making fun of each other’s terrible form. It’s great to do outside when the weather is nice (hello neighbors! but stay 6 feet away!). There are endless, amazing YouTube yoga lessons for beginners to experts!
Tell us in the comments below what you’re up to in quarantine. Remember to stay safe, follow your state guidelines and be conscious of others (we also know you’re sick of hearing this…sorry ).
