Top Policies

You must be 18 years old to test in Arizona.

If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must also meet additional requirements. More information at https://www.azed.gov/adultedservices/ged.

The examinee must be eighteen (18) years of age and has not received a High School Diploma or a High School Equivalency Diploma. An examinee age sixteen (16) and seventeen (17) years of age may take the assessment after completing the following requirements listed below:

Submit the following three documents to the Arizona Department of Adult Education and High School Equivalency Services by email or mail 30 days prior to testing:

Valid Identification:

  • The HSE candidate must present a valid U.S. government issued ID for testing.
  • The ID must include the legal name (including prefixes, suffixes and hyphens), date of birth, and photo.
  • A candidate signature is no longer required on the government issued ID. Examples of additional valid identification are:
    • State issued learner's driving permit
    • State issued driver's license
    • Tribal enrollment/identification card
    • State issued ID (no expiration date listed)
    • U.S. issued passport or passport card.

 

For those testing on the Online Exam: 

  • A parent or guardian must be present at the pre-test check-in order to give consent and authorize the underage tester to be recorded during testing. If the parent or guardian is not present, the exam session will be revoked.

No, there is no residency requirement to take the test in Arizona.

No, Arizona doesn’t require you to prepare for the GED® test in an adult education classroom.

Arizona also requires that you pass the Arizona Civics test in addition to passing the GED® test to receive the Arizona High School Equivalency Diploma.

Students will be required to score 70% on the Arizona Civics Test to pass. The test can be taken as an online proctored test or at an authorized GED/Pearson VUE Test center.  All test registration is completed on GED.com. The test can be taken at any time during your GED® testing experience and may be taken as many times as you need to pass with no required waiting time in between attempts.

 

For those testing in-person at a Testing Center:

  • No, you’re not required to take the GED Ready® practice test before taking the official GED® test.

For those testing on the Online Exam:
