GED Testing Service Announces Board Leadership Transition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Trent Workman Named Board Chair; Randy Trask Retires After 15 Years of Service
Washington, D.C. - (July 15, 2026) - GED Testing Service today announced the appointment of Trent Workman as Chair of the GED Testing Service Board. Workman succeeds former Board Chair Randy Trask, who retired in June.
Workman currently serves as Managing Director of Pearson School Assessments, U.S., where he leads the company’s K–12 business across 23 states and territories and partners directly with more than 2,600 school districts. Over his 20‑year career at Pearson, he has led the transformation of statewide assessment, combining technology, measurement, expertise and innovation to help states build more connected and learner-centered systems.
“Trent brings a strong record of leadership, innovation, and collaboration with stakeholders,” said CT Turner, President, GED Testing Service. “His perspective, and dedication to the customer and learner experience will be invaluable as we continue expanding opportunity and delivering meaningful outcomes for adult learners.”
As Board Chair, Workman will work closely with GED leadership and Board members to support the organization’s strategic priorities, including access, innovation, and partnership with states, educators, and enterprise.
The organization also announced the retirement of Randy Trask, who has been involved with GED Testing Service since 2010. Trask helped establish the joint venture, served eight years as CEO, and later returned as Board Chair. During his tenure, GED modernized its delivery model, expanded its reach, and strengthened its role in education and workforce pathways.
Trask remained Chair through June to support a smooth Board transition.
