Building a Better Future Through GEDWorks

GED Author

The desire to build a better future motivated Iris to pursue her GED. She knew that earning her credential would open the door to college, allowing her to grow into the person she hoped to become.

Before beginning her GED journey, Iris struggled to balance work, studying, and the demands of raising three children on her own. The weight of those responsibilities made it difficult to prioritize her education, but over time, she found a way forward.

GEDWorks, an employer-sponsored program that helps employees earn their GED at no cost, gave Iris the support she needed to reach a major goal. It boosted her confidence, motivating her to apply for college. Throughout the process, she remained committed to studying and is proud to have finally achieved her dream of earning her credential.

Iris is now a Medical Assistant for a fertility clinic. She plans to attend college to pursue a role as a Phlebotomy Technician, then become a nurse.

Her journey taught her that with persistence, discipline, and faith in herself, she can accomplish the goals she sets for her future. “My advice is to keep trying. This is not impossible. It is challenging and rewarding at the same time. I feel like I should have done this sooner, but life happens, and it’s never too late for your education and for better things towards your future.”
