Name Change Policy

1. Not every name change results in updates to an individuals’ high school equivalency diploma or other credentials earned. For example, marital status changes, or voluntary name changes will not result in changes to a person’s high school credential or GED® Credential. 

2. Under limited circumstances, GED Testing Service will review requests and determine the required substantiating documents.

3. Name change requests are only considered in limited circumstances, such as, safety of the Candidate, court ordered requirement, etc.

4. Candidate must provide supporting documents such as, a court protective order or other documents that substantiate the proof of need. Requests for name change are sent to help@ged.com.

5. After required documentation is received by GED Testing Service the name change is made to the Candidates record.
