The GED® Program
The GED® Testing Program diligently monitors test administration to assure a fair, consistent and reliable testing experience. The following list is not exhaustive list of security matters and rules, but provides guidance on select, important issues for candidates to know and remember. GED Testing Service may make updates to this Test Security Page from time to time. For more information, please review the Candidate Rules Agreement, the Non-Disclosure Agreement and The GED® Program Policy Manual.
No Exam Assistance
GED® candidates are not allowed to receive assistance from others while taking the GED® test. You must not allow anyone to view your computer screen at any time during testing. This includes screen sharing through remote software or the use of unauthorized access codes.
To maintain the integrity of the GED® test, GED Testing Service enforces the following requirements, including but not limited to:
You must agree to and comply with the Candidate Rules Agreement, Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), and The GED® Program Policy Manual.
You may not copy, record, or reproduce any GED® test content, including questions or answers.
You may not share, discuss, or distribute exam questions or answers with others.
Failure to comply with the Candidate Rules Agreement or Non-Disclosure Agreement constitutes misconduct. Misconduct is grounds for score invalidation, revocation of credentials, forfeiture of test fees, suspension from testing, and pursuit of all available legal remedies. Misconduct includes disrespectful or aggressive conduct by a Candidate or their parent or guardian, toward any individual involved the GED® testing program including, but not limited to, test center staff, customer service representatives, accommodation staff, GED Testing Service staff, Jurisdiction staff, other Candidates and such misconduct will result in disqualification and potentially a permanent ban from further testing.
Online Proctored GED® Test
Candidate Conduct
The Online Proctored GED® test is continuously monitored by test proctors. Candidates must follow the instructions provided by the test proctors. If you violate any of the rules listed below in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage you will be subject to the following, including, but not limited to, invalidation of scores, revocation of credential, loss of test fees, suspension from testing, as well as pursuing all available legal remedies.
Downloading a remote software.
Utilizing a VPN or Virtual Machine.
Attempting to record or capture test questions. This may include capturing the exam screen during technical issues.
Having access to test questions and answers prior to the exam.
Using Notes or unauthorized items like a calculator.
Ignoring repeated warnings from your proctor.
Using a remote proxy service puts you at serious risk for any or all of the following consequences:
Malware downloaded onto your computer
Future demands of money from the remote proxy service based on their knowledge that you cheated on your GED test.
Having your scores & credential revoked and losing your money
Suspended from all GED testing
Where to Report Test Security Concerns
GED® tests are administered under strict security measures. If you observe suspicious behavior or potential testing violations, please report them to the GED Test Security team at:

Proxy Testing: Taking a test for someone else or impersonating another candidate.
Misconduct: Violating the Candidate Rules Agreement, NDA, or GED Policy Manual.
Sharing, selling, photographing, or distributing exam content.
Posting or discussing exam questions or answers online or in forums.
All reports are confidential. GED Testing Service reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals who violate test security policies.
